Will my credits transfer?

Information

Answer
Excelsior College accepts credits earned with a letter grade of C or better at regionally accredited institutions. We also consider credits from colleges and universities recognized by the New York State Education Department.

Coursework or training that has been evaluated and recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education (ACE), the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) or Excelsior College faculty will also be considered for transfer. Please review the Ways to Earn Credit to learn more.

During the application process, a preliminary review is conducted to determine if the credits you have previously earned are applicable to the degree you wish to pursue with Excelsior.

Vocational LPN, paramedic, and respiratory therapy credits do not typically transfer because they are not considered college level courses.

Credits from non-regionally accredited institutions are not reviewed during the application process. There is a non-regional appeal process, however, prospective students who choose to appeal will be charged a non-refundable $85 fee on top of the application fee. There is no guarantee the appealed credit will be accepted. Students can choose to wait until they are enrolled to have an academic advisor review this credit for no additional charge.
